We just heard this in church a week or two ago: " they gave themselves first to the Lord" (Second Corinthians 8:5)
As we give ourselves first to the Lord, with all our strengths and all our weaknesses, the Lord will accomplish great things.
One of our greatest strengths at Mt. Olive is ENCOURAGEMENT. I see it happening every day, in many ways, and I give thanks to God. In particular, I observe older believers encouraging, training, teaching, mentoring others - their friends, neighbors, children, grandchildren, other children in the church and neighborhood, etc.
So while being an older congregation could be seen as a weakness, I believe it is actually a strength. How can we intentionally grow and strengthen our work of ENCOURAGEMENT? Attached you will find a brief summary that I wrote, based on some very extensive research that was conducted in the LCMS a few years ago.
Please read, and then let me know: how can I help you in the calling God has given you to encourage, to train, to teach - in your family and beyond?
